A rough estimate of 16 million people in the United States alone suffers from diabetes. This is a chronic condition that causes a whooping number of 178,000 deaths annually. This health disorder is classified into two types, type 1 and type 2. The former is the condition where the body produces little or no insulin at all. This insulin is a hormone that is needed to be able to effectively convert food into energy. The type 2 form of diabetes on the other hand is where is the body is resistant to insulin it produces. Among these two types, the type 2 is more common as almost 90 percent with diabetes condition are diagnosed to have type 2 diabetes.
